Vinyl wallpaper is made with paper that is treated with acrylic vinyl, a chemical made from ethylene (which is derived from natural gas) or polyvinyl chloride. It is easy to clean and unaffected by long-term exposure to humidity or grease. It is also very hard-wearing and has a long-life and the wallpaper can even be used on ceilings. It is often chosen because of its fire safety – the material is absolutely non-flammable. Because it is moisture-resistant, it's a popular choice for kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
