Tema E Variazioni is one of the most famous designs by Piero Fornasetti, the iconic Italian designer. This design illustrates Fornasetti's ability to draw many and various inspirations from a single motif. The muse for Tema E Variazioni was in the form of Lina Cavalieri, an opera singer who appeared in a 19th centruy French magazine. Fornsetti was captivated by her mysterious face, and in this wallpaper we see six variations, four of which are in the image shown here.
